Fundamental Concepts and Definations: SILENCE

“The silence amongst the Noise”
Silence is normally considered as ‘lack of sound.’  But that definition can be considered only on the physical level.  In the non-physical level, the term silence has a much broader meaning.  It is not the absence of sound, but the absence of thoughts and the absence of emotional flow.  There is ‘noise’ all around us even in the extremely ‘quite’ of places.  The true silence is a very unique feeling.
Especially in the case of Indian Classical Music, this ‘silence’ can be observed.  We can experience it very nicely in a classical concert and it is a boon to experience it.  It is the place where the artist leads us to.  Or rather to say, it is a feeling that the artist helps us to experience.  It is a non-physical help that the artist ‘gives’ to the audience.  It is one of the purest of donations, the greatest of deeds.  A few hours of this non-physical help gives such a great deal of satisfaction, happiness and some time away from the miseries and challenges that we face every day.  That time under the cool shadows of a tree, away from the burning sun…
This concept of silence is one feeling where we can relax, where we can rejuvenate ourselves; that one place where we are not separate from each other but one with each other.  It is where we might be different or separated by body, but one with mind and beyond.
This wonderful home where we can relax is available to all anytime and anywhere.  We should visit there from time to time.  We all have the keys to the doors which we know the location of.  It is then our personal CHOICE, weather to walk through it or not.
Our choices decide everything.
So, hope everyone makes the right choices and not the easy ones.  After all, we all want happiness for us all, don’t we?

Fundamental Concepts and Definations: COMMUNICATION.

Communication can be vaguely defined as the process through which people connect with each other.  So, the fundamental purpose of communication is to connect.  Through these various connections knowledge can be acquired.  Information can be attained and the same can be given also.  This process is two way, generally and is very important.  Once we acquire knowledge, etc. and start implementing it, we automatically set a certain momentum to our lives.  The process of communication is ongoing and plays a vital role in our lives.  It starts right from the mother’s womb, where we sense things through our mother’s senses, including emotions.  The give-n-take of these emotions is also considered as a part of communication.  It is communication of the non-physical realm.  Emotions play a very important part because once a person is stimulated, the first response or the first area of response is emotional.
For example, if we meet a friend, a long lost friend, the first thing that happens is that we feel happiness.  It arises from nowhere, the feelings of re-attachment, getting connected again which gives us bliss like nothing felt ever before.
Then, on the thought level, we travel into the past and remember all the things that happened before; how we met, how we screwed up things together, how we fought each other, how we helped each other in times of dire need…
Finally on the physical level, comes out the response of, “Hey dude, wassup Bro.!!  It’s been quite some time! Where the hecks have you been man, you totally……” so on and so forth.

Fundamental Concepts and Definations: CHOICE.

Choice is a very uniquely beautiful concept.  Have personally experienced how choice can literally save lives in an impossible situation and also, destroy lives in a very positive situation as well.  Choice is more of an action, than words.  You choose your path of life, through your actions.  You can choose to accept a marriage proposal given to you by someone who loves you or even reject it.  It is complete action.  Many people don’t understand why some things happen in their life.  They say, “Why would I choose to hurt a near and dear one?”  But the fact is, knowingly or unknowingly, you can inflict pain on anyone, be it someone close to your heart or the person could mean to be no one to you.  For example, people have even murdered a near and dear one under the influence of fear or ignorance.  In India, the concept of Honour Killing exists in which parents have murdered their own children because they married outside their caste or in some places, within their village.  Under the influence of ignorance, they literally murdered their own kids; they ‘chose’ to kill their kids.  When under the influence of a negative emotion, you tend to do such things.  Some situations take place due to ignorance, or lack of knowledge or even fear.  How this happens, we will see in further chapters.

Fundamental Concepts and Definations: WORDS and ACTIONS.

Words and actions are like the ammunition of communication.  They determine the ‘change’ that takes place in the present.  You can change a given situation by these tools…make it good or bad or anything you want it to be.  Communicating by actions is always much better than communicating by words.  For example, instead of just saying that you always stay on the path of truth it’s much better to stay on it all the time, no matter what pain it may cause to you.  This will put a very positive effect on the situation.  It may seem tough at first…even suicidal in some cases, but with time, things change and become better.  These two tools are a fundamental part of communication which is very essential in not only the physical, but also the non physical realm.

Fundamental Concepts and Definations: Concepts of GOOD and BAD.

Now the concepts of good and bad are a very relative concepts and change from situation to situation.  But after observing the laws of nature and the evolution process, we can vaguely make one universal definition for the terms.
From the beginning of life, we have seen how single celled organisms have ‘come together’ to form another organism and so on till us.  From this factor we can say that anything that connects or ‘brings together’ things, living or non living, with a fundamental purpose to evolve and does so, taking into consideration ALL living and non living beings/things can be called as ‘good.’
While, anything that disconnects, destroys or divides things, living or non living, and thus, fundamentally, creates an obstruction to the evolution process, can be considered as ‘bad.’
When it comes to the non-physical realm, that is the region beyond our five senses, the concepts of positive and negative come into function.
Any emotion, which creates a weightless feeling, makes us feel intact, connected and secure, can be considered as a positive emotion.
While any emotion, which brings about a very heavy feeling; especially in the head region, makes us feel disconnected, ripped apart or insecure, can be considered as negative emotion.
